Hodge handcuffed by rights father

Well they’re at it again - Fathers for Justice strike again. This time someone handcuffed themselves to an MP who was at a ‘family law’ conference in Manchester.

Whilst I totally understand these father’s problems, does the quote from the Janet Paraskeva fuel the fire? If there were actually enough real public debate then demonstration wouldn’t be necessary would it? If you look back in history, demonstrations came about because “those in power” weren’t listening or making decisions without reference to the people who were affected. The demonstrations got bigger and more public the longer the issue was left unresolved.

As a majority, we Briton’s as a nation tend to avoid individual conflict and strive to ‘get along’. Therefore it must take a huge amount of pressure to move people to perform stunts like these. Disbelief might make you think that it’s someone looking for their Warhol 15 minutes of fame, I tend to think its more than that. Even Sir Bob Geldof has had problems with the way the system works in the UK.

I wonder if the media will try and show this chap as an uncaring, uncontactable father - as has been done in the past with others; gilted partners have a way of sounding plausible whilst slating their ex to anyone who will listen - and then the public view of the stunt gets skewed so that the law remains within the status quo.

I do accept that there are cases where removing contact is necessary - it’s the grey cases that can become unjust - and for the most part you can’t even explain why publicly.

Is it time politicians stopped worrying about winning votes with new childcare trusts and instead actually fixed these laws before its too late - children grow up so fast that a year can make a big difference with no contact. If it takes another few years to get change almost a whole generation will have been affected.
