Helpdesk Ticketing System - Completely Free

Feb 26, 2007 @ 02:07 pm by Spencer

I’ve been looking into getting a helpdesk ticketing system to handle general enquiries before I start ramping up my internet presence any more.

After a few searches and a lot of reading I’ve found the one I’m going to use…

My parameters were

1) Runs with php/mysql

2) Has email responses

3) Is free i.e. Creative Commons or is GPL’d.

4) Easy to configure and set up.

Well taking a search through the warrior forum I finally found this.

I’ve installed it up at www.askspencer.com and here’s the customisation I needed to do.

1) Fix the email templates. These all need editing in templates/email

2) Put new graphics together - replacing the background and also the header logo. 3 mins

3) Add livesupport both enabling it and modifying the main template to put it on the front page. Do other admin tasks like changing the admin user account and adding my own.

4) Turn the header graphic into a clickable link to go back to the home page.

5) FTP the lot upto my webhost - took about a minute… all done.

All in all I’m pretty impressed with this software.
